Do you have an eye for detail, organization, and cleanliness and enjoy working in a positive, team-oriented environment?  If so, our position might be the right fit for you.  This part-time position provides preventative maintenance and cleaning of our Feedmill and Elevator areas, as well as assists with ingredient receiving and restocking and preparation of materials for delivery.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Routine cleaning for safety and compliance
  • Keep ingredients available for feed production, including restocking of bagged and toted products
  • Unload bulk ingredients through our elevator dump system
  • Load tractor/trailers for later delivery
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment per provided schedules

What You Need:

  • Clean driving record
  • Experience driving pickup trucks, forklifts, tractors, and other basic machinery
  • Experience with equipment repair and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and e-mail
  • Self-motivation and ability to remain productive when unsupervised

A Day In The Life:

This key position is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and general oversight of contract nursery and finishing barns.  Our Swine Service Technicians ensure that these locations are being maintained in alignment with HORD protocols to optimize animal care, health, and efficiencies; identify and mark animals ready for market; and administer preventative or corrective care as needed.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable traveling to various farms across north-central Ohio, have the desire to work with pigs and people, a willingness to learn, a high level of dependability as evidenced with a solid work history, and a proven record of drive for excellence.

Burns Farms LLC is a family owned and operated feed mill working for one of Ohio’s leading pork producers.  We have been in this business for 15 years and have grown from a 2-person company to 9. We are located near Milford Center, OH.

Most of our work occurs Monday – Friday with rare weekend work.  This is a 50-55 hour per week position.  Workdays begins at 7:00 am.  We do offer paid holidays and vacation.

What is a typical day?

You will have a morning meeting with one of the owners to plan the days schedule.  This is a computerized mill.  Tasks in the day include grinding feed, loading trucks, unloading inbound deliveries (both bulk & bags), communicating with farms & drivers, maintaining a clean facility and multiple other jobs as the day demands.  Preventive maintenance may be part of your day as well.

Successful Candidates:

In this position you are the hub of our feed mill and everything revolves around this job. You will be working with our suppliers, our sow unit manager, and our employees.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (Farm experience helpful)
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge a plus
  • Must pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Able to lift 50 lb. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to load trucks from an overhead platform
  • A plus – able to climb a grain leg

Able to move tractor/trailers on our property
