Candidate must have experience operating a 24 row corn planter VRT, 32 row bean planter, and 102 degree sprayer. Duties:

  • Heavily involved in planting, harvesting, and spraying
  • Operate variety of farm equipment; experience operating a 24 row corn planter VRT, 32 row bean planter, and a 120′ field sprayer a plus
  • Drive trucks/haul grain locally as required
  • Perform daily maintenance and light repair on equipment
  • Other farm duties as required

Requirements:

  • Class A or B CDL
  • Must have some experience with operating farm equipment
  • Run 40′-50′ tillage equipment
  • Must be familiar with new equipment featuring GPS, auto steer, and equipment monitors
  • Strong agronomy background
  • Availability to work full-time/year-round with extended hours during peak seasons, especially during planting and harvest
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Candidates must not currently own or have routine contact with non-Hord pigs

About the Role:

  • You will repair, replace, remove, and/or modify sow farm structures and equipment to correct problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature
  • You assess, diagnose, and evaluate problems of a mechanical, electrical, and/or structural nature
  • You perform preventative maintenance (e.g. lubrication, inspection, etc.) for sow farm structures and equipment
  • You maintain work area, tools, parts, and equipment in a clean and organized manner for the purposes of safety, efficiency, and appearance
  • You maintain specified housekeeping assignments, including power washing and disinfecting, in accordance with the provided housekeeping guidelines and expectations
  • You carry out and understand the importance of all biosecurity procedures
  • You perform other related corrective maintenance functions or duties as needed
  • You assist with barn duties like feeding, watering and movement of sows and piglets as needed 

 

Who you are: 

  • GED or high school diploma required
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Safety/OSHA knowledge
  • Basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical experience
  • Willingness and ability to work early mornings, and some weekends
  • Basic welding experience
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds consecutively 
  • Have a passion for agriculture 
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and tasks around the farm
  • Evidence of analytical reasoning and mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide

Burns Farms LLC is a family owned and operated feed mill working for one of Ohio’s leading pork producers.  We have been in this business for 15 years and have grown from a 2-person company to 9. We are located near Milford Center, OH.

Most of our work occurs Monday – Friday with rare weekend work.  This is a 50-55 hour per week position.  Workdays begins at 7:00 am.  We do offer paid holidays and vacation.

What is a typical day?

You will have a morning meeting with one of the owners to plan the days schedule.  This is a computerized mill.  Tasks in the day include grinding feed, loading trucks, unloading inbound deliveries (both bulk & bags), communicating with farms & drivers, maintaining a clean facility and multiple other jobs as the day demands.  Preventive maintenance may be part of your day as well.

Successful Candidates:

In this position you are the hub of our feed mill and everything revolves around this job. You will be working with our suppliers, our sow unit manager, and our employees.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (Farm experience helpful)
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge a plus
  • Must pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Able to lift 50 lb. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to load trucks from an overhead platform
  • A plus – able to climb a grain leg

Able to move tractor/trailers on our property
