Hord Farms is currently searching for an experienced groundskeeper to add to their landscaping crew!  Candidates will have an opportunity for year round employment—working in our pig production facilities in the winter, landscaping starting in the spring, and assisting with planting and harvest activities during the growing season.    

What You’ll Do:

  • Mow lawns; remove weeds; trim shrubs and small trees; plant flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns and landscapes; and perform other duties required to maintain pristine exterior appearance of all work sites
  • Maintain and repair mowers, sprayers, and other landscaping equipment
  • Assist with planting and harvest field work or grain elevator needs during busy seasons
  • Provide back-up labor in the hog production facilities during the winter months

What You Need:

  • Experience with maintenance of mowers and equipment
  • Superior attention to detail
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., sit, bend, reach, kneel, stoop for extended periods of time
  • Flexibility in work schedule.  Generally, you will work 45-50 hours/week, but start and end times/hours each day may vary based on work-load and weather
  • No contact with pigs outside the Hord herd

Burns Farms LLC is a family owned and operated feed mill working for one of Ohio’s leading pork producers.  We have been in this business for 15 years and have grown from a 2-person company to 9. We are located near Milford Center, OH.

Most of our work occurs Monday – Friday with rare weekend work.  This is a 50-55 hour per week position.  Workdays begins at 7:00 am.  We do offer paid holidays and vacation.

What is a typical day?

You will have a morning meeting with one of the owners to plan the days schedule.  This is a computerized mill.  Tasks in the day include grinding feed, loading trucks, unloading inbound deliveries (both bulk & bags), communicating with farms & drivers, maintaining a clean facility and multiple other jobs as the day demands.  Preventive maintenance may be part of your day as well.

Successful Candidates:

In this position you are the hub of our feed mill and everything revolves around this job. You will be working with our suppliers, our sow unit manager, and our employees.


  • High School Diploma (Farm experience helpful)
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge a plus
  • Must pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Able to lift 50 lb. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to load trucks from an overhead platform
  • A plus – able to climb a grain leg

Able to move tractor/trailers on our property
